The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is funding received as a result of new development within the parish. By law, CIL funding must be used to help address the demands that development places on local infrastructure and services. Eligible projects should therefore demonstrate a clear link to the impacts of development in Gotherington and provide a wider community benefit.

The council welcomes applications from local organisations delivering projects that will improve community infrastructure, facilities and services for residents. Applications may be submitted by not-for-profit organisations, community groups, registered charities, state schools, statutory infrastructure providers, community interest companies (CICs), and parish council committees or working groups.

You may wish to have the following information available before starting your application:

• Estimated project costs
• Any quotations, estimates or price comparisons obtained
• Details of other funding sources sought or secured
• Your latest accounts or current-year budget forecast
• Relevant permissions or consents (where required)
• Supporting documents you wish to upload

What can CIL funding support?

Projects must demonstrate how they help address the impacts of development in Gotherington. Funding may be used for infrastructure projects including:

• Community buildings and facilities
• Recreation, sport and green spaces
• Transport and highways improvements
• Flood mitigation and drainage
• Digital connectivity
• Public realm improvements
• Education and health infrastructure

This list is not exhaustive, but all proposals must be linked to development impacts and provide a clear benefit to the wider community.

Funding rounds

Applications are considered quarterly. You can apply any time and your application will be considered in the next round.

Round 1

• Application deadline: 30 September
• Assessment: October
• Decision: November Full Council meeting
• Applicants notified: Mid to late November

Round 2

• Application deadline: 31 December
• Assessment: January
• Decision: February Full Council meeting
• Applicants notified: Mid to late February

Round 3

• Application deadline: 31 March
• Assessment: April
• Decision: May Full Council meeting
• Applicants notified: Mid to late May

Round 4

• Application deadline: 30 June
• Assessment: July
• Decision: August Full Council meeting
• Applicants notified: Mid to late August

Please note: CIL funding is limited and applications are assessed competitively. The council encourages applicants to seek other funding sources where possible and regards CIL as funding of last resort. Applications requesting part-funding alongside other contributions are generally more likely to be successful.
