Community Governance Review: Information for Residents
A proposal affecting Gotherington’s parish boundary has been submitted as part of Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Community Governance Review. Here's what's happening next.

Tewkesbury Borough Council (TBC) is carrying out a Community Governance Review (CGR). A CGR examines parish governance arrangements, including thinking about whether any parish boundaries should be amended.
As part of this process, Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council has submitted a proposal suggesting that some land currently within Gotherington Parish should instead fall within Bishop’s Cleeve. Tewkesbury Borough Council has formally notified Gotherington Parish Council of this submission.
The Borough Council’s Stage 1 consultation has now closed. Because Bishop’s Cleeve Parish Council did not consult Gotherington Parish Council before submitting its proposal, TBC is undertaking an additional consultation directly with Gotherington Parish Council so that our views can be taken into account when officers prepare draft recommendations.
Gotherington Parish Council will consider its response at its Full Council Meeting on 11 August at 7pm in the Rex Rhodes Building.
Residents are welcome to email any comments they would like councillors to consider at that meeting (send to the Clerk via clerk@gotherington-pc.gov.uk). Please note that TBC’s first consultation stage is now closed to members of the public, so any comments received at this point will be considered by GPC, though these comments may be included alongside GPC’s submission to TBC.
Residents may also speak in the public forum at the meeting on 11 August if they wish to share their views directly with Gotherington parish councillors.
A further CGR consultation will take place later in the process, once draft recommendations are published. That stage will be open to members of the public, parish councils and other stakeholders.
