Draft Review Recommends No Boundary Changes for Gotherington

Tewkesbury Borough Council (TBC) has published its draft recommendations for the 2026 Community Governance Review (CGR). This includes the recommendation that there are no changes to the existing parish boundary between Gotherington and Bishops Cleeve. These are draft proposals only and will be subject to further consideration before any final decisions are made.

What happened before this?

Bishops Cleeve Parish Council submitted a proposal to the review seeking a change to the parish boundary, under which part of Gotherington parish would be transferred into the Bishops Cleeve parish area. Gotherington Parish Council submitted its own response supporting the existing boundary remaining unchanged. Both submissions were considered as part of the review process.

As part of its submission, we invited residents to send their views on the boundary change proposal. We would like to thank residents who took the time to share their views. Hearing from the community is an important part of the review process and helps ensure decisions are made in an open and democratic way.

What happens next?

There is now a second consultation period, asking for comments on the recommendations. The consultation is open until Friday 23 October 2026. All comments from this consultation will be considered before TBC prepares its final recommendations later in the year.
